After what seems like an entire month but was in all honestly two days of actual packing and weeks of sorting through pictures and reading old journals, every material possesion that somehow explains something about my life is surrounded in cardboard. Yep. Every last bit of it.
It has been a weird day, particularly when my pappa (dad's dad) called me to say the following:
"Now listen here Meag. I tell you what... Them there winters in the north are somethin' all together different. When I was Korea durin' the war... you walk outside and your nose starts to drip... next thing you know its got iscicles. There're lot more dangers in the cold weather that don't compare to the Texas heat and you don't know nuthin 'bout. They've got the frostbite, and just walkin' you're liable to slip and knock your head. You be careful up there, and if you're smart you'll find yourself a feller to help keep warm."
The best thing about this was that none of it was exaggerated or made up and especially not he use of the phrase " when i was in Korea during the war." Yes, Pappa is from back-country luuuuuuuusiana and i love him.
